About the project
This book (in English) will present a new perspective on gender and masculinities development in the last century. The first part offers a historical analysis of three major patterns linked to masculinity, "the silent men", "the long hair", and "the care giving fathers". It includes in-depth discussion of silencing and trauma in the background of the silent men (in the first part of the 20th century), revolt and cooptation (1960s-70s), and the changes towards care giving masculinity (in the last decades). The second part of the gives an overview of the current situation, based on extensive new studies. The planned deadline is June, 2018.
