Thomas Michael Walle is a social anthropologist, with a doctorate from the University of Oslo. He is a Senior Adviser at the Museums of Sogn and Fjordane, and has previously worked as senior curator and research coordinator at Norsk Folkemuseum.
Walle has broad experience in the intersection between academia, policy development, and social action, and has worked extensively on questions relating to gender, masculinities, ethnicity, and diversity. He has done fieldwork in both Pakistan and Norway, where his main interest has been how masculinities are constituted, expressed, and challenged in different contexts. In his recent research, Walle has been focused on critically examining inclusionary work in the cultural sector, with particular emphasis on how diversity measures might risk solidifying differences between groups.
Walle taches the course KFL2020 / KFL4020 – Menn og maskuliniteter.
