What do we do when we analyse fatness as a social category, not just a medical one? How is normativity involved in how we talk about different bodies? These are central questions in the field. Francis and Sunniva will explore the close connections that fat studies has to queer theory and gender and sexuality studies, but also the tensions between them.
Francis Ray White is Reader in Sociology in the School of Social Sciences at University of Westminster.
